| No woman should have to die as a result of pregnancy, but then no fetus should have to die as a result of a pregnancy it did not create. Thus, a woman has the right to defend her life, safety, and health with reasonable force, and deadly force only if reasonable. The balance is thus: the decision is hers, in consultation with her medical, spiritual, and parental advisors to terminate the pregnancy in self defense at a time and in a manner that saves both lives, if at all possible, realizing that it may not always be possible to save both. Implicit in Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood, 550 U. S. (2007) (Upholding Federal Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act.); Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood of N. New England, 546 U. S. 320 (2006)(Upholding New Hampshire Parental Notification Statute) |
